According to the latest census data released by the Guangdong Provincial Statistics Bureau on May 15, the resident population in Dongguan exceeded 10.46 million by the end of last year, making it the third city in Guangdong Province with a population of over 10 million, third only to Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Compared with the sixth national census in 2010, the permanent resident population of Dongguan increased by about 2.25 million, growing by 27.33 percent over the ten years, 6.52 percent higher than the average level of the province.
