On June 11, Dongguan reported one new imported asymptomatic COVID-19 case from Maldives.

The case is a 55-year-old male of Chinese nationality. The patient left Maldives on June 7 (Flights NO. UL102 and UL880), and arrived in Guangzhou Baiyun Airport on June 9. After sampling by medics at the customs, he was transferred to the centralized isolation site for inbound travelers in Dongguan City in accordance with the closed-loop management procedure. On June 10, during the centralized isolation period, the customs informed that his result of nucleic acid test for COVID-19 was positive, then he was transferred to the No. 9 People's Hospital of the city for isolation and observation. After further examination and expert consultation, he was diagnosed as an asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19 infection.

As of 15:00 on June 11, Dongguan remains a low-risk area for COVID-19 epidemic.

The three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday may see a frequent flow of people, which may increase the risk of spreading the virus. Authority of the city encourage the residents to stay put and travel less during the holiday.

The public is asked to pay special attention to personal protection by wearing masks, washing their hands frequently, practicing one-meter social distancing and ensuring regular ventilation when going out. Those who return to Dongguan from medium- and/or high-risk areas should report to their employer, community management office, hotels they live or destination community (village) ASAP and cooperate with epidemic prevention and control work.
