On June 12, the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the number of COVID-19 vaccines in Dongguan reached nearly 320,000 doses in a single day. As of 24:00 on June 12, over 10.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across Dongguan, with a total of 7.5 million people been vaccinated.

Since June 10, Dongguan has adjusted its immunization strategy for the COVID-19 vaccine by ensuring the second vaccination dose for people aged between 18 and 59. The total vaccinations in the city exceeded 10 million doses as of June 12. The proportion of the second dose continued to rise for three consecutive days, ranking first in Guangdong Province.

During the six days from 9 million to 10 million, 17 towns and districts in Dongguan carried out a nucleic acid screening blitz and suspended vaccination from June 7 to June 9. The time it takes for Dongguan to complete each one million doses is getting shorter and faster.

Dongguan has set up 39 large-scale temporary centralized vaccination sites throughout the city. Regarding vaccination progress in different areas in the city, the top five towns and districts with the best completion rates of the second dose vaccination are Songshan Lake, Shilong Town, Guancheng District, Wangniudun Town and Dongkeng Town.

According to Zhang Qiaoli, deputy director of Dongguan Health Bureau, it is expected that from July, Dongguan will gradually carry out inoculation tasks for other groups of the population following the unified deployment of superiors and achieve the effective establishment of immune population barriers.
