The 45 national youth development-oriented pilot cities
Recently, Dongguan was selected for the national youth development-oriented city (county) construction pilot list, with a pilot period of 2 years.
A youth development-oriented city refers to a city that solidly promotes a new urbanization strategy with people as the core, actively implements the concept of giving priority to youth development, and better meets the youth's diverse and multi-level development needs. It is an urban development model in which the innovation, vitality and high-quality development of the youth and the city can complement and reinforce each other.
Dongguan is a young city. It has 5.7534 million young people (16-35 years old), accounting for 42.13% of the total population. The average age of the youth population is 33.4 years old. The inflow rate of young people in Dongguan ranks first in the country, making it one of the youngest cities in the country. Moreover, Dongguan has a large group of young industrial workers, and the number is over 5 million, with an average age of 36.01 years.
In recent years, Dongguan has carried out a 1,000-day campaign to expand the capacity and improve the quality of education, adding 53,800 public places for primary and secondary schools. It vigorously carried out a million-skilled talent plan, offering a cumulative subsidy of 2.673 billion yuan in three years, and held youth entrepreneurship competitions at or above the municipal level to attract 3,474 entrepreneurial projects. The finance department provided 7.21 million yuan to train 481 young talents. In the past ten years, the city has helped 20,000 migrant youths improve their academic qualifications and provided 35,600 high-quality internship positions. The construction of a youth development-oriented city has achieved great initial results. The atmosphere of "Dongguan is more friendly to youth, and youth are more promising in Dongguan" is even more vital.
