There is a "secret" plant maze in Dongguan. With fresh air and green plants, visitors can enjoy nature and relax completely in a more casual environment different from modern cities. It is a test of a sense of direction and insight challenges.
The maze is beside the No.8 sentry box of Mountaineering Avenue in Dapingzhang Forest Park (大屏嶂森林公园), Tangxia town. Covering a total area of 4,090 square meters, the maze path itself is 1,000 meters long. About 1,400 "Fujian tea" trees are planted as the winding hedge. From a distance, it looks like a tea garden.
Why use "Fujian tea" as the maze wall?
Fujian tea is a common shrub. Compared with other plants, it is short but compact in plant shape. Featured with vigorous growth, dense in branches, resistant to pruning, and no thorns, it is a perfect choice for the maze wall as it is not accessible to scratch tourists who enter the maze. What's more, its flowering period is extended. In spring and summer, it is dotted the white flowers with the green leaves, while in the summer and autumn, there have red fruits among the green leaves, which is a delightful scene.
Challenging difficulty:☆☆☆☆☆
It was built in 2016 and completed in 2018. It took two years for Fujian tea to grow into the 2-meter-high "maze wall". Only then was the maze opened to the public and became one of the most popular spots in Dapingzhang Forest Park.
The plant maze only has one entrance and one exit. There's only one actual path through it, which increases the difficulty of moving through the labyrinth and adds to the player's enjoyment.
