On the evening of December 14, Dongguan SCL Tech and Trade Promotion Webinar 2022, organized by Dongguan Foreign Affairs Bureau, was held successfully. Representatives of more than 20 enterprises from 8 sister cities and friendship cities from Belarus, Brazil, Israel, Portugal and other countries, as well as dozens of representative enterprises from Dongguan and Mudanjiang attended the event promoting high quality cooperative projects online and jointly exploring business opportunities.
Deputy Consul General Glaucio Veloso of Brazil in Guangzhou, Deputy Director Alexey Pushkarev of Belarus National Agency of Investment and Privatization, President Henry Osvald of Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in China, Executive Secretary General of CODESUL attended the webinar. LYU Chengxi, Deputy Secretary of the Dongguan Municipal Committee of the CPC and Mayor of Dongguan Municipality, delivered a video speech. Chen Zhiwei, member of the standing committee of the Dongguan Municipal Committee of the CPC, made a keynote promotion.
Lyu extended a warm welcome to the attendees at home and abroad. He introduced that Dongguan is a world-famous manufacturing hub. There are more than 200,000 industrial enterprises in the city. Apart from that, one of every three toys, every five smartphones, every five sweaters and every ten pairs of sports shoes in the world are made in Dongguan.
Dongguan is a powerhouse for technology & innovation. There are more than 9,000 national high-tech enterprises in the city. It also has China's first and world's fourth Spallation Neutron Source.Dongguan is a major city of foreign trade. It has established economic and trade ties with more than 200 countries and regions with an annual import and export volume that exceeds 1.5 trillion yuan, making it the fifth largest foreign trade city in China.Dongguan is a city that values friendship. It has built friendly relations with 25 sister cities and friendship cities across the globe. The city sincerely welcome businesses & companies from all over the world and friends from home and abroad to visit and invest in Dongguan.
Chen promoted Dongguan from four main aspects: "vibrant", "livable", "technological innovation" and "advanced manufacturing". Located in the geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with Shenzhen and Hong Kong in front and Guangzhou at its back, Dongguan is the only city in China surrounded by three world-class cities. In 2021, Dongguan's GDP reached 1,085.5 billion yuan, making it the 15th city with a GDP of over one trillion yuan and a population of over 10 million. Chen stressed that Dongguan, standing at a new starting point, has always adhered to its distinctive city characteristics of "technological innovation + advanced manufacturing", built a world-class business environment, created and seized new opportunities for cooperation and development globally.
At the webinar, the participants watched a video of Dongguan City, and 26 representatives of Chinese and foreign enterprises made business promotion in turn, including new energy enterprises from Israel, pharmaceutical companies from Belarus, biotechnology companies, industrial automation companies, 3D printing technology companies from Brazil and artificial intelligence technology companies from Portugal, etc.
The event was strongly supported by Foreign Affairs Office of Mudanjiang Municipal People's Government, Dongguan Federation of Industry and Commerce, Dongguan International Chamber of Commerce, World Dongguan Entrepreneurs Federation and Dongguan City Enterpriser Association. Representatives of 10 enterprises from Mudanjiang City and more than 80 enterprises from Dongguan City participated in the webinar, which further enhanced the mutual understanding between each other. It is reported that a number of domestic and foreign companies have already came to further business negotiations after the meeting.
