A glimpse of the proposed design for Dongguan Museum's new building.

The upcoming new building for Dongguan Museum, set to become a cultural beacon in the Greater Bay Area, has unveiled its initial architectural renderings. Situated at Dongguan's central plaza, the museum's new facility is a brainchild of a team led by Academician He Jingtang, envisioning a modern masterpiece with an investment nearing 800 million RMB and a sprawling floor area of about 40,000 square meters.

Embracing the natural allure of the region, the design concept draws inspiration from the landscapes and courtyard architecture of Lingnan, a distinctive region in southern China. The undulating and thoughtfully designed rooftops symbolize the undulating landscape, while the staggered architectural boxes create a multi-dimensional community, complemented by a charming waterfront.

Blending seamlessly with the greenery both indoors and outdoors, the public spaces and aerial green landscapes intertwine, giving birth to a novel spatial configuration. This design not only enhances the building's functionality but also enriches the visitor experience. The new museum's design pays homage to the traditional Lingnan culture, aiming to provide a public environment that resonates with the essence of Dongguan's urban character.

The Dongguan municipal government emphasizes the adherence to national standards in constructing the new museum. Attention is given to meticulous planning, ensuring the museum's future collection finds its rightful place. Additionally, a strong emphasis is laid on engineering management to guarantee progress, quality, and safety throughout the construction phase.

Situated on the eastern side of the South Square of Dongguan Central Plaza. In April this year, the Dongguan Museum's new building project commenced with the first geological survey. As of now, the construction is steadily progressing according to the established plan.
