Editor's note: The "Explore Guangdong along coastline" event was officially launched on October 30, 2023, guided by the Cyberspace Administration of China and hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of the Guangdong Provincial Committee. From October 30 to November 5, more than 100 journalists from central and provincial key media outlets, along with experts, scholars in the field of marine economy, and renowned vloggers, embarked on a journey to explore Guangdong's 14 coastal cities through three routes: East, West, and Central.

As a coastal city in Guangdong with a colossal port, Dongguan was one of the key cities visited during this media tour. Dongguan sun0769 Net and DongguanToday were invited to participate in this event and will be releasing a series of reports to show Guangdong's maritime strength.

Loteam Cloud Valley, situated in the Nansha district of Guangzhou, stands as a testament to urban revitalization and transformation into an innovative enterprise incubation park. Despite its unassuming exterior compared to many modern incubation centers, this hub is a breeding ground for numerous distinctive projects.

Inside the exhibition hall of Guangdong Tongtai New Materials Co., Ltd.in the valley, various shapes and sizes of "cement frames" are on display, resembling an ordinary construction site. However, there's a magical force at play here.

"If someone were to strike it with a hammer today, causing it to crack, it would automatically repair itself after a week," explains Xu Rongbin, the company's General Manager and Senior Engineer. This is their independently developed "self-healing waterproof mortar." By adding a special material to the concrete, its corrosion resistance is significantly enhanced, and in the event of cracks, it automatically repairs when exposed to water. This breakthrough promises to greatly extend the lifespan of underwater structures, offering significant assistance to China's ambitious maritime infrastructure projects.

"China is often dubbed the infrastructure maniac, focusing on construction scale, speed, and capacity. However, the further improvement of construction quality requires materials like ours to empower China's infrastructure," says Xu Rongbin.

In Nansha, innovative stories like these unfold continuously.
