Recently, the Zhongtang Dragon Boat Team and Hongmei Dragon Boat Team are set to represent Dongguan in dragon boat races in Denmark and Switzerland. The teams have undergone rigorous selection processes and are ready to embark on their journey.

Commissioned by Dongguan authorities and invited by event organizers, Zhongtang Dragon Boat Team will represent Dongguanin the professional category of the Dragon Boat Culture Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Under the supervision of experienced coaches, 20 outstanding athletes have been selected to represent Dongguan in Denmark from June 22nd to 23rd.

The Copenhagen Dragon Boat Culture Festival has been held for seven years and is renowned internationally for its high standards and professionalism. It attracts top talents from around the world, leading to intense competition. In 2023, the festival drew over 10,000 participants, serving as a significant platform for showcasing a city's image, economic status, and cultural charm on the international stage.

The Zhongtang Dragon Boat Team has previously represented Dongguan in numerous domestic and international competitions.The team has a strong track record, having won multiple honors, including the 2023 Dongguan Dragon Boat Championship.It underscores Zhongtang's rich cultural heritage and formidable strength, making positive contributions to cultural, economic, and trade exchanges between Dongguan and the world.

Meanwhile, Hongmei Town Dragon Boat Team will compete in Switzerland's 2024 Eggers Lake Dragon Boat Invitational after rigorous trials.

On April 20, the selection trials took place in Hongmei Town, attracting over 50 dragon boat athletes from 10 villages (communities) to participate. The competition featured a 200-meter straight sprint for individual boats, with the top 24 athletes selected to compete in Switzerland.

The selection trials were overseen by Wu Xincheng, a seasoned coach with nearly two decades of experience. Impressed by the athletes' performance, Wu emphasized the team's determination to excel and bring honor to Hongmei in Switzerland. "We will showcase the spirit of Hongmei, pioneering and fearless, in Switzerland and strive for excellent results!"
