On July 24 at 8 AM, Typhoon Gaemi has intensified into a super typhoon, marking it as the third typhoon of the year. As a result of its outer descending air currents, Guangdong will experience heightened temperatures on July 24-25, with temperatures soaring between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius and some areas potentially exceeding 38 degrees Celsius. The meteorological office predicts some relief by Friday with the possibility of rain due to a convergence zone shift northward.

Dongguan Weather Forecast

For Dongguan, the weather from July 24 to 25 will be predominantly cloudy with high temperatures around 36 degrees Celsius. On July 26-27, Dongguan is expected to have mostly cloudy to overcast skies with thunderstorms and localized heavy to severe rain, accompanied by short-term strong winds of up to level 8 during thunderstorms. From July 28 to 30, southeast winds will bring moderate thunderstorms with localized heavy to severe rain. Frequent thunderstorm activity is expected from July 31 to August 1 due to southwest airflow.

Residents are advised to be vigilant against short-term heavy rainfall, lightning, strong winds, and associated disasters. Due to the extreme heat, precautions against heatstroke and sunburn should be taken. Please avoid prolonged outdoor activities.

Train services halted on July 25

With Gaemi expected to impact or make landfall along China's southeastern coast, railway services in eastern Guangdong will be disrupted, leading to the suspension of several trains on July 25.

China Railway Guangzhou Group has announced that on July 25, certain trains passing through the Hangzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway, Meizhou-Shantou High-Speed Railway, and Zhangzhou-Longyan and Shejiang-Longhu Railways will be suspended.

The Shenzhen Railway will also suspend or alter the routes of some high-speed trains. As of 10 AM on July 24, all high-speed trains traveling through Hangzhou-Shenzhen to Meizhou, Shantou, Xiamen, and Wenzhou on July 25 will be suspended. Affected trains will terminate at Chaoshan Station instead.

Passengers with tickets for suspended trains can obtain full refunds within 30 days (including the day of travel) at railway station ticket windows or through the 12306 website and mobile app, without incurring refund fees.
