The much-anticipated Dongguan City Science Festival is about to begin, with a wealth of engaging activities designed to spark curiosity and scientific discovery. Running from September to the end of October, this series of events offers nearly 100 science-themed activities, making it a fantastic opportunity for both children and adults to dive into the world of science.

The festival, aligned with National Science Popularization Day, is the only sub-venue of the Guangdong Science Carnival hosted by a prefecture-level city. As a major participant in the province-wide event, Dongguan will shine as a hub of "technology innovation + advanced manufacturing."

With activities crafted to inspire, it's an event that truly embodies the fusion of local culture and technological advancements.

10 main science events

01 National Science Popularization Day in Dongguan

Date: September 21  

Location: Shigu Community, Nancheng (南城街道石鼓社区)

What to expect: AI exhibitions, carbon neutral science areas, hands-on interaction zones, heritage performances, and Chinese medicine workshops.

02 City Science Festival & Student Tech Festival by the Education Bureau 

Date: October 18–19  

Location: Songshan Lake Future School (松山湖未来学校), Songshan Lake No.2  Primary School (松山湖第二小学)

What to expect: Opening ceremony, tech competition, scientific exhibitions, and fun science-themed sports activities.

03 Innovation-driven National Day celebrations by the Science and Technology Bureau

Date: October 1–6, October 26  

Location: Dongguan Science and Technology Museum (东莞科技馆)

What to expect: Science shows, popular science exhibitions, creative workshops, and a special "Science Night" event.

04 Health Month Activities by the Health Bureau

Date: September–October  

What to expect: Health education, school events, and a city-wide step challenge.

05 Skills competition by the Human Resources Bureau

Date: September  

What to expect: Professional skills competitions to nurture the next generation of talent.
