Dongguan residents have something big to look forward to! A new high-speed rail station is on its way to the city's heart. The Nancheng District Office has recently released the public draft of the Territorial Spatial Master Plan of Nancheng, Dongguan (2021-2035), unveiling new details about a series of urban planning projects, including the much-anticipated Nancheng High-Speed Railway Station.

A new high-speed station in Gedi

According to the plan, the Nancheng area will leverage the second Guangzhou-Shenzhen high-speed rail line to establish Dongguan Central Station in Gedi (蛤地). This will allow residents to reach Shenzhen Airport in just 10 minutes and Guangzhou's Baiyun Airport in 20 minutes, making Dongguan an even more connected city.

The station is at the core of a transportation system described as "one main and two supporting hubs."

The main hub will be Gedi High-speed Rail Hub, connecting the second Guangzhou-Shenzhen high-speed rail line with Dongguan Metro Line 2, Line 6, and Line 11.

The two supporting hubs include:

• Xipingxi Station: Linking the Foshan-Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity line with Dongguan Metro Line 2 and Line 8.

• Hongfu Road Station: Connecting the Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan Intercity line with Dongguan Metro Line 1 and Line 2. 

• In addition to the railway network, the plan includes expanding public bus services and integrating the rail system with bus routes and pedestrian-friendly paths, aiming for a seamless, multi-modal transport experience for residents and visitors alike.
