Dongguan's metro system has made significant progress recently, with the completion of key milestones on both Metro Line 1 Phase I and Line 2 Phase III. These achievements bring the city one step closer to enhancing its public transportation network, which will make commuting faster and more convenient for residents and visitors alike.

As of October 13, all stations on the first phase of Metro Line 1 have completed their main construction. The final station, Meitang Station (formerly Huangjiang Central Station) has been fully topped out, marking the completion of the structural work for all 25 stations along the line.

Meitang Station is an underground, two-level station with a total length of 372.55 meters. Its completion brings the entire line closer to its long-awaited launch. The project now moves into the next phase of building auxiliary structures and restoring roads.

Dongguan Metro Line 1

Dongguan Metro Line 1 spans approximately 57.5 kilometers from Wanghong Station in Hongmei Town to Meitang Station in Huangjiang Town. It connects key areas such as Water Towns, the central urban district, Songshan Lake, and areas near the Shenzhen border.

Once operational, Line 1 will create a seamless transit network with Dongguan's existing Line 2, enhancing north-south connectivity across the city. Additionally, future extensions are planned to link the line with Guangzhou's Metro Line 5 and Shenzhen's Metro Line 6.
