Dongguan, recognized as a "Basketball City" in China, is set to host another thrilling basketball event. The highly anticipated FIBA Open 3x3 tournament will be a centerpiece of the 2024 Dongguan Basketball Culture Festival. Scheduled for early November, both the Guangdong Provincial Finals and the National Finals promise to deliver an unforgettable basketball experience for fans.
The Guangdong Provincial Finals will take place on November 2 and 3, featuring 16 of the province's top teams vying for a chance to compete in the National Finals. These teams emerged from a competitive series of five rounds held in Foshan, Dongguan, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, where a total of 96 teams showcased their skills. The selected teams range from ages 18 to 40, with a notable presence of younger players, many born after 1995, contributing to a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.
This tournament isn't just about local talent; it also welcomes international players. Among the participants are two promising young athletes from Cameroon, MAX KELLER and EDDY MONKAM, who play for the Hesheng Steel Structure team. Their performance is highly anticipated.
The tournament will span two days, culminating in a championship match where the winning team earns a spot in the National Finals on November 9-10. There, they will compete against champions from 11 other regions across the country for the national title.
Dongguan has already hosted several successful basketball competitions this year, including the Dongguan City Basketball League, the Civil Servants Basketball League, and Dongguan Corporate Basketball League generating enthusiasm among the community and fans alike.
