After days of sweltering heat, Dongguan's weather is about to take a dramatic turn. A tropical depression formed over the central South China Sea on June 10 is expected to strengthen into Typhoon No.1 of 2025, with its landfall likely near western Guangdong or southern Hainan around June 13.

While the storm's arrival signals a late start to this year's typhoon season, typically beginning around March, it's shaping up to be a powerful one, reaching wind speeds of Level 10 to 12.
From June 13 to 15, the approaching typhoon is forecast to trigger the heaviest rainfall event Guangdong has seen this season so far, bringing widespread precipitation and a noticeable drop in temperatures across much of the province.
Starting June 13, Dongguan will begin to feel the effects of the typhoon's outer bands. Heavy rain, gusty winds, and even localized torrential downpours are expected through June 15. The heat is expected to ease.
