The cycling competition of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NGD & NSOG) concluded on July 8 in Longgang, Shenzhen. After eight days of fierce competition, Guangdong Team secured a total of 64 gold, 43 silver, and 31 bronze medals across the two squads.

Among them, 12 athletes from Dongguan, including Wang Xiaomei, Liu Qiangli, and Wang Linhua, delivered a standout performance, winning 16 golds, 10 silvers, and 8 bronzes.

Behind every medal lies relentless perseverance and a drive to push beyond limits. During provincial training, Dongguan's cyclists trained with unwavering dedication, and their efforts paid off in brilliant fashion on the national stage.

Dongguan is also actively involved in hosting events for the Games. As one of the co-host cities, it will organize three competitions: women's deaf basketball, weightlifting, and 3x3 deaf basketball. The 3-on-3 games will take place from July 17-20 at the Dongguan Disabled Sports Training Center.

For the first time, the 15th National Games and the NGD & NSOG are being co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The NSOG will officially open in Guangzhou on December 8, 2025. Several Dongguan athletes, including Chen Minyi, Zhou Guohua, and Huang Wenjuan, are expected to represent Guangdong in events like archery, athletics, and table tennis.
