Specifically, the Pearl River Delta and western Guangdong regions are projected to receive 10 to 20% more rainfall than usual. Additionally, the province is expected to endure a pronounced spell of scorching heat, with an average of 24 to 28 high-temperature days anticipated across the board.

The third quarter marks the peak of typhoon activity in the Northwest Pacific and the South China Sea, and Guangdong is directly in the path. Forecasts suggest that 3 to 5 typhoons will either hit the province's shores or cause disruptions in its vicinity.

While the overall intensity of these typhoons is expected to align with the long-term average, there is a chance that some could be exceptionally powerful, posing significant threats to coastal ports and maritime traffic safety.

In terms of natural disasters, authorities are sounding the alarm on several fronts. When typhoons make landfall, the combined forces of strong winds, high waves, and storm surges could jeopardize the integrity of sea dikes

Moreover, heavy rainfall has the potential to trigger a series of secondary disasters, such as mountain floods, flooding in small and medium-sized rivers, urban and rural waterlogging, as well as geological hazards like landslides, slope failures, and mudslides.

As Guangdong enters a phase with possible extreme weather, authorities are urging everyone to stay vigilant and take early action to mitigate the impacts and protect lives and property.
