The 16th Taiwan Famous Fair opened in Dongguan on September 11, transforming the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center into a four-day "mini Taiwan tour." Free to enter, this annual carnival brings together Taiwanese food, creative culture, high-tech innovations, and youth entrepreneurship, all under one roof.

With 8 themed halls and more than 670 exhibitors from both sides of the Strait and across Asia, this year's fair is the biggest in its history.

Record-breaking scale

This year's fair covers 33,000 square meters with 1,881 booths and 671 exhibitors from across mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. For the first time, an "Asia Pavilion" was set up, drawing companies from India, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, marking a step toward greater internationalization.

The lineup features 583 leading enterprises, including Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders in AI, electronics, smart manufacturing, and biotechnology. Visitors can explore eight themed halls and 25 provincial pavilions, each showcasing the latest products and collaboration opportunities.

Beyond big companies, the fair is also a stage for cross-Strait youth entrepreneurship. In the Songshan Lake exhibition zone, a newly developed AI-powered chemical synthesis platform drew major attention. The project was introduced by a Taiwan father-son duo, Chen Chengkun, who has worked in Dongguan for 30 years, and his son Chen Qida, who now leads the new venture.

"Our goal is to integrate Taiwan's strengths in precision chemical technology with the mainland's vast market and manufacturing power," said Chen Chengkun. His son added, "Compared to my father's time, today's environment empowers us, global tech moves fast, and we can transform ideas into production much quicker."

Adding to the fair's academic depth, Dongguan University of Technology showcased innovations in AI, AR/VR, and brain-computer interface systems, led by Taiwan-born professor Dr. Lü Jierong and his student team.

Culture, food, and immersive fun

The fair isn't only about business, it's also a cultural and culinary feast. Every day, visitors can enjoy stage performances ranging from Lingnan folk arts and Taiwanese dance to heritage crafts and fashion shows.

For foodies, the famous Taiwan night market has been "recreated" inside the venue, offering a wide range of authentic snacks. From bubble tea and pineapple cakes to savory street snacks, it feels like stepping right into Taipei. Meanwhile, interactive game zones and AI experience halls let guests try out cutting-edge technologies.

The fair also makes sure visitors don't go home empty-handed. Guests can join stamp-collecting treasure hunts across 12 checkpoints for exclusive cultural souvenirs, or enter two lucky draws each day for a chance to win smartphones, home appliances, and Taiwan specialty products.
