According to statistics from Huangpu Customs, Dongguan’s foreign trade has achieved impressive growth in 2025. In the first eight months, the city’s total import and export value reached 1.03 trillion yuan, securing its position as the second largest foreign trade hub in Guangdong Province. The city's foreign trade grew by 14.6% year-on-year, outpacing both the national and provincial averages by 11.1% and 10.4%, respectively.
Exports reached 629.68 billion yuan, a 9% growth, with August seeing a 35-month high of 87.36 billion yuan in exports, marking a continuous positive trend for the past 15 months. Imports reached 395.92 billion yuan, an increase of 24.9%.
In the first eight months of the year, Dongguan’s general trade reached 485.93 billion yuan, growing by 20.3%. Meanwhile, bonded logistics continued its upward trend, with imports and exports amounting to 270.63 billion yuan, a growth of 18.1%.
Private enterprises have played a crucial role in this growth, with their import and export value reaching 642.63 billion yuan, a 22.4% increase. This surge has contributed significantly to the city's foreign trade performance, accounting for over 62.7% of the total trade volume.
In the first eight months, the city’s exports to ASEAN, India, the Middle East, Mexico, and Brazil grew by 39.5%, 18.8%, 36.2%, 6.5%, and 6%, respectively. These regions now represent 27.6% of Dongguan's total foreign trade.
Mechanical and electrical products continue to be strong performers, with exports of 439.43 billion yuan, making up 69.8% of total exports, while imports of these products grew by 33.6% to 344.6 billion yuan, making up 87% of the city’s total imports.
