That's how Addy,a German-American mixed-race vlogger,described her National Day trip back to her "hometown",Dongguan.
Over the holiday, Addy (@阿菊Addy) returned with her dad, brother, and best friend to spend the break exploring the city she grew up in. Before setting off,Addy planned her own smart "citywalk" route with AI map functions.
Their first stop is a famous roast goose restaurant on Zhongshan Road in Guancheng.
"You can't come to Dongguan without trying authentic roast goose!"
"Leng fo! Zeng bok!" ("So good! So delicious!") she added in perfect Cantonese.Addy and her family couldn't stop eating.
Next, they went for a citywalk at "Dongguan Sign", where Addy dropped by the China Post-themed store to mail a postcard to her grandma back in the U.S.
"As a 90s kid, I just found out it only costs 8.4 yuan to mail one back to the U.S.!"she said, surprised.
The family then visited the Lingnan Museum of Fine Art for an exhibition, admired the traditional architecture and graceful swans at Keyuan Garden, and took a photo in front of the historic Ying'en Gate,a must-see landmark for any Dongguan trip.
For many locals, Addy and her sister @Rachel 星星 are no strangers, both well-known lifestyle vloggers in China. Though their parents are foreigners, the sisters grew up entirely in Dongguan, speaking fluent Mandarin, and even throwing in a few words of authentic Dongguan dialect now and then.
They might be mixed-race, but they're Dongguan through and through, or as locals like to say, "pure Dongguanners."
