Dongguan's rising BMX star Liu Haoran has done it again. The 13-year-old cyclist captured his second straight gold in the men's youth park event at the 2025 FISE World Series in Shanghai, representing China's national team with a spectacular performance.

Liu first made headlines last year when, at just 12, he claimed the title in his international debut. This year, he returned to the same venue and successfully defended his crown, proving his growing dominance in the global youth BMX scene.

In the finals, Liu impressed both judges and spectators with a flawless routine that combined high-difficulty spins, precise rotations, and powerful aerials. His highlight move, a daring 360-degree spin into a triple "Dragon Tail", earned him top marks. "It was his first time performing that combo in competition," said coach Zhang Zhiyong. "He handled the pressure beautifully, and that new move sealed the victory."

FISE 2025

The FISE World Series, founded in France in 1997, has grown into one of the world's premier urban sports events. This year's Shanghai stop gathered over 700 athletes from 34 countries and regions. Liu's teammates also shone. Xiao Xixi took bronze in the women's group, while Zhang Yujie and Liu Chenyu finished fifth in their respective divisions.

Back home in Dongguan's Huangjiang Town, strong local support continues to nurture the next generation of riders. With upgraded facilities, government backing, and a thriving youth sports culture, the town has become a powerhouse for BMX talent.

National Games

Next, the spotlight turns to the 15th National Games. The freestyle BMX event will take place in Shenzhen from October 24 to 25. Guangdong’s lineup will feature riders Zhou Huimin, Lu Chang, and Xu Yue, while Zhu Yufeng, Wei Xiaojing, and Gao Kai will compete in the road and track cycling categories.

The Dongguan athletes are now in their final phase of intensive training, ready to once again chase glory for Guangdong and Dongguan.
