
The 2025 Huaxia Cup Overseas Chinese Basketball Friendship Tournament came to an exciting close at the Dongcheng Sports Center on November 4.
After three days of high-energy games, Jinan University Alumni Team claimed the championship title, followed by Shenzhen Overseas Youth Team, Zhongshan Overseas Youth Team, and Indonesia's INTI Basketball Club.
The Jinan University Overseas Chinese Alumni Team clinched the championship with a breathtaking buzzer-beater, narrowly defeating the Shenzhen Overseas Youth Team. The crowd erupted as the ball swished through the net in the final second. "It was like watching a movie ending with a perfect plot twist," one spectator exclaimed.
"It's a wonderful competition. Playing here feels amazing," said Glenn Patrick Barwin from Indonesia's INTI Basketball Club. "Dongguan truly deserves its name as China's basketball city. The level, the atmosphere, everything is top-tier! Dongguan is the champion in basketball."
Thai player Chayapat Korsapthawee added, "You can feel the love for basketball everywhere. There are courts everywhere, and it's so easy to find teammates. Dongguan is a real basketball paradise."
The players also attended the opening match of China's 15th National Games Men's Basketball Tournament, cheering with thousands of fans as Guangdong faced Shandong. The stands roared as the Guangdong team, led by stars like Zhao Rui and Hu Mingxuan, clinched an 87–71 victory. The overseas players cheered side by side with local fans, feeling the pulse of the city's sporting spirit.
