Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT) has officially opened its International Cooperation Innovation Zone, a stunning new campus designed to blend technology, creativity, and sustainability in the heart of Songshan Lake.
Covering 370 mu (around 25 hectares), the new campus offers a glimpse into the future of higher education. Modern glass-and-wood research buildings, lush green lawns, and serene lake views come together to create a space that inspires both study and innovation.
The campus features four state-of-the-art research laboratories, three multifunctional halls, and two apartment buildings equipped with smart management systems.
The landmark Building 01 will house key international laboratories, research teams, and innovation platforms in fields such as materials science, information technology, life sciences, and intelligent manufacturing. Its pale blue glass panels and warm wooden lines give it a calm, intelligent vibe.
Smart classrooms and specialized labs for robotics, modern communications, and engineering innovation are already in use, offering students and researchers a modern, efficient, and inspiring learning environment.
The three multifunctional halls, resembling elegant leaves, will host lectures, concerts, and exhibitions. Together with lounges and recreation spaces, they create a vibrant and comfortable setting for scholars and students alike.
The modern dorms are cozy and smartly managed, and the open green spaces make it easy to relax between projects.
Supported by both the Guangdong Provincial Education Department and the Dongguan Municipal Government, DGUT is on track to become a high-level applied research university by 2035, with strong emphasis on innovation, technology transfer, and international exchange.
The launch also marked the debut of the International Design School, a new faculty combining art, engineering, and digital innovation. Its Design Exhibition 2025 showcases bold and diverse works that merge tradition with technology. The exhibits span fields such as industrial production, daily life, and consumer design. The exhibition is open to the public by appointment.
