Dongguan has once again earned national recognition in China's exhibition sector. According to the newly released 2024 China City MICE Competitiveness Report, Dongguan ranked 4th among 154 prefecture-level cities and was named "China's Most Competitive Exhibition City" for the tenth consecutive year.

The city's long-standing success stems from a clear and distinctive strategy summarized as "manufacturing as the foundation, differentiation as the core, and collaboration as the shield." Rather than competing head-to-head with Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Dongguan positions itself as their industrial hinterland, focusing on depth rather than breadth. This allows Dongguan to specialize in "Manufacturing + MICE," creating exhibition platforms that directly serve industrial needs.

As a world-renowned manufacturing hub, Dongguan's strength lies in its solid industrial base: 34 industrial categories, over 200,000 industrial enterprises, more than 9,000 national high-tech companies, and a complete manufacturing ecosystem. This foundation supports major industry-specific exhibitions such as the International Famous Furniture Fair and the Songshan Lake Smart Tech Procurement Fair, both of which attract global buyers and drive large-scale trade. The furniture fair alone draws over 1,000 exhibitors annually and exceeds RMB 30 billion in intended deals.

At the town level, Dongguan's "One Town, One Exhibition" model, seen in events like the Chang'an Machinery & Mould Fair and the China (Dalang) Woolen Knitwear Fair, helps SMEs secure orders, technology, and partnerships.

Continuous government support, professional venues, digital upgrades, and integration with tourism and urban branding all reinforce the city's leadership. After a decade at the top, Dongguan's MICE competitiveness is no coincidence, it is the natural outcome of an industrial city that knows exactly how to turn its strengths into a global advantage.
