Starting January 1, 2026, Dongguan has launched a province-wide traffic safety campaign targeting electric bicycles and motorcycles. Under this program, strict enforcement will take place every Friday, and the campaign will run for one full year.
The move comes as the number of electric bicycles and motorcycles continues to rise, bringing increased traffic risks. On Fridays, traffic police across Dongguan will carry out focused inspections, especially around busy areas such as schools, hospitals, shopping districts, residential communities, metro and bus stations, as well as major road intersections. Checks will be particularly visible during morning and evening rush hours and school commute times.
During these inspections, officers will pay close attention to unsafe riding behaviors, including running red lights, riding against traffic, carrying passengers illegally, not wearing helmets, entering restricted roads, and riding without proper registration or license plates. Dangerous actions such as street racing, stunt riding, excessive noise, and illegal vehicle modifications will also be dealt with firmly.
