China's gymnastics team celebrated a strong start to the 2026 season at the American Cup, winning the mixed team title with a score of 57.250. Among the standout performers was Ke Qinqin, a young gymnast from Dongguan Sports School who was competing in her first international event.

The competition marked the global debut of the mixed team format, a new event that will appear at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Eight teams, including China, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Spain, Mexico and the Philippines, took part, making the event both highly competitive and closely watched by the international gymnastics community.

Despite strong rivals, China delivered a steady performance to secure the gold medal. Ke, born in 2010 and considered one of the team's promising young talents, competed in floor exercise and balance beam. Although she had a minor error on the beam, her overall difficulty level and confident routines contributed valuable points to the team's victory.

Ke has already built an impressive reputation at home. Last year, she made headlines at China's National Games by winning two senior titles, women's all-around and balance beam, during her debut appearance, while also collecting three gold medals in youth competitions.

In previous interviews, the young gymnast said her current focus is to strengthen her fundamentals while gradually increasing the difficulty of her routines. She has been working on new elements in vault, uneven bars and floor exercise, hoping to bring them into future competitions.
