Registration is now open for the 2026 Dongguan (Songshan Lake) Marathon, which will start at 7:00 on December 6. Both the start and finish will be located on Hongmian Road, near the north gate of the Innovation and Technology Park. Registration closes at 16:00 on October 25, with ballot results expected in early November.

This year's event will feature AI and robots throughout the race. Robots will help distribute race packs, guide runners, cheer along the course and present medals at the finish line. An AI video system will capture, identify and edit each runner's footage in real time, allowing participants to receive their personalized race video shortly after crossing the finish line.

The marathon will also showcase products made in Dongguan, from locally manufactured running shirts to supplies and cultural souvenirs in the race packs. The course will take runners through the scenic heart of Songshan Lake, passing landmarks such as Songhu Misty Rain and Huawei's European-style campus amid lakeside views and extensive greenery.

Local flavors will add another dimension to the experience. A food week held alongside race-pack collection will feature Dongguan roast goose, Daojiao meatball congee, sweet rice balls and other regional favorites.
