On December 3, one confirmed case of COVID-19 Delta variant was reported by Guangzhou's Baiyun District, and WenXing Hotel at Junhe Street in Guangzhou's Baiyun District (白云区均禾街文星酒店) was classified as a medium-risk area the next day. To prevent the epidemic from affecting Guangdong through tourism, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province issued a notice about epidemic prevention and control arrangements on December 6.

According to the notice, Guangdong has prohibited the businesses of group tours, air tickets and hotel reservations of inbound tourism. The special tourist trains have been stopped and the scale of tourist groups have been strictly suspended.

In addition, the travel agencies and the online tourism enterprise business of group tours, air tickets and hotel reservations of cross-provincial tours have been suspended from December 3, which can be resumed after the whole province becomes a low-risk area. However, group tours to medium-high risk areas, reception of tour groups from medium-high risk areas, and the travel of people from medium-high risk areas are still not allowed.
