Recently, the list of the eighth batch of national-level manufacturing single-item champion enterprises was announced. A total of 61 Guangdong-based enterprises, including XAG, LUXSHARE-ICT, and EVE, were selected. Previously, in the first seven batches, Guangdong had nurtured a total of 132 enterprises, accounting for 11% of the national total.

"Single-item champion enterprises rely on technological originality and extreme manufacturing to "make up for deficiencies", "consolidate strengths" and "fill in gaps" in key links and areas of the industrial chain and supply chain," said Xin Wang, chairman of China Manufacturing Think Tank. Single-item champion enterprises will drive China's manufacturing industry from imitation to innovation.

The so-called single-item champion enterprises in the manufacturing industry refer to enterprises that have long focused on markets of specific product within the manufacturing industry. They possess internationally leading production technologies or processes and hold leading positions in the global market share of their single-item products. Specifically, "long-term" refers to engagement in the relevant field for 10 years or more, "focused" means that sales revenue from specific products accounts for 70% or more of the enterprise's total business revenue, and "high global market share" means being among the top three globally.

The selected enterprises from Guangdong this time are mainly in strategic emerging industry clusters such as high-end equipment manufacturing, cutting-edge new materials, and laser and additive manufacturing.

In terms of regions, most of the selected enterprises are based in the Pearl River Delta region, with 29 in Shenzhen, 10 in Dongguan, 7 in Guangzhou, 5 in Foshan, 3 in Zhuhai, 1 in Huizhou, 1 in Jiangmen, 1 in Zhongshan, and 1 in Zhaoqing.
