A drop of 10℃! Strong cold wave to affect Guangdong from tonight

A strong cold front is forecasted to arrive in the northern part of Guangdong from the evening of February 21, bringing a significant drop in temperatures and light to moderate rain, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Service.

The cold snap is predicted to affect the central part during the daytime of February 22, and ultimately the southern coastal areas from the evening of February 22 to the wee hours of February 23.

Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Zhaoqing, and Heyuan are expected to see a temperature drop of 10-15℃. The southern coastal regions will cool down by 4-6℃, and the remaining areas will be 6-9℃ cooler.

Residents in Guangzhou may not be able to feel the significant change in temperature until the evening of February 22.

From February 22 to 23, there will be light to moderate rain and localized heavy rain in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing. Other regions will be cloudy with overcast periods and scattered light rain. Lows: 3-6℃ in Shaoguan and Qingyuan, 7-10℃ in the northern parts of Heyuan, Meizhou, and Zhaoqing, 16-20℃ in the southern coastal areas, 10-15℃ in the remaining areas.

The cold weather will persist into February 24 to 25. Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing are likely to experience light rain and sleet.

Other regions will be cloudy with scattered light rain. Lows: 4-8℃ in Shaoguan and Qingyuan, 8-11℃ in the northern parts of Heyuan, Meizhou, and Zhaoqing, 15-19℃ in the southern coastal areas, 11-15℃ in the remaining areas.
