Dongguan has downgraded its last area classified as medium-risk for COVID-19, namely Street 2 of Changtanghua Street, Changtang Community, Dalang Town (大朗镇长塘社区长塘花街二街), based on the current situation since January 5. Currently, all city areas are at low risk for the epidemic.

Passengers will no longer need to present negative nucleic acid test results issued within 48 hours before travelling outside Dongguan city or Guangdong province, according to the latest notice issued by the city's COVID-19 Prevention and Control Command Office yesterday.

The city's bus lines, taxis, and road passenger transportation service that were temporarily suspended or adjusted last month due to the pandemic will resume normal operation from January 5.

Meanwhile, the city's taxis and online car-hailing applications will resume cross-city services, and they will be permitted to operate in Dalang Town. Dalang's bus terminal also restores passenger services.

Following the principle of "no events unless essential", the city will continue to strictly control large-scale activities such as performances, exhibitions, temple fairs, parties and annual meetings. If an event must be held, the number of participants should be limited as much as possible. The host of events with over 50 people must form an epidemic prevention and control plan in advance and report to the local district or town's COVID-19 prevention and control command office.

Tourist destinations must follow visitor number limitations, reservations, and staggered visiting hours. The number of visitors should not exceed 75 percent of maximum capacity.

Dongguan has not registered any new confirmed cases of COVID-19 since December 27, 2021.
