Greetings from Dongguan Foreign Affairs Bureau! At this joyous moment of ringing out the old year and ushering in the new, we would like to extend our season's greetings and sincere wishes to you and your family for a happy and prosperous New Year!

2020 is a year of turmoil. Numerous lives are exposed to grave threat by COVID-19, yet great strength has been shown as we come together in solidarity to prevail over the current hardship. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Dongguan Municipal Government has always given top priority to the life and health of Chinese and foreign nationals and adopted effective measures to minimize imported cases and prevent the spread within the city. Significant progress has been made in epidemic prevention and control followed by an extensive resumption of work and production that brings a full restoration of economic and social order. All these cannot be achieved without the full support of foreign friends working and living in Dongguan. We hereby would like to express our heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support for Dongguan Municipal Government and our joint efforts in epidemic prevention!

The New Year is drawing near as COVID-19 continues to ravage the world, affecting free flow of people as a result of restricted cross-border travels. We deeply regret that you might not be able to return home in time for a family reunion. During this special period, Dongguan Municipal Government and the people of Dongguan will always stand by you and would like to invite you to join and enjoy our celebration of the New Year’s Day, Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, which are all important traditional holidays in China. It is a great way to experience Chinese culture and traditions through making Chinese dumplings, writing and pasting Spring Festival couplets and watching the Spring Festival Gala. While celebrating the festivals, we kindly ask you to stay alert and strengthen self-protection, follow official information releases and cooperate with measures of epidemic prevention and control. Let’s work closely to safeguard the hard-won achievements in the battle against COVID-19 and protect our health and safety.
